The Serpent's Apprentice asks Princess Chandra if he should stay here and keep an eye on Gwen's scale. She replies in the affirmative.
Jean fills in Hamster Oberon on the Dworkin situation - there's an alternate Dworkin present who is insane here, and the hamster Dworkin is trying to help him. They talk about balancing the fifteen powers with the new Pattern and the Logrus. Jean brings Hamster Oberon and Hamster Flora to the planet with the fifteen powers and initiates Hamster Oberon in all of the powers that he can.
Jean and Osric study the stairs to Tir, which are embedded in the wall of Castle Amber. There are only two steps visible. Osric tries to pry them out of the wall using a crowbar of Fringe power and the crowbar shatters.
Jean talks to Rainbow, who pours onto the wall and pours back off quickly. "You didn't tell me that it was congealed Pattern!" Rainbow suggests having someone who deals with Pattern deal with it.
Jean talks to Corwin. Corwin is on the march toward Amber with his army, to back up Marial. Corwin insists that Jean block the moon before it rises, so Jean assembles a fleet of saucers near the roof.
Neville regains consciousness, not that he was ever truly unconscious. He studies himself, and notices a patch across the hole in his stomach. He walks the Pattern in his mind. It takes him longer than it should, because he is slightly dizzy, but it comes up. He tries to draw on Pattern energy, and his stomach starts to heat up. He stops.
Neville notices that his blood and the organs on the floor are throbbing with Pattern. Neville lies down and goes back to sleep.
Cailin has an un-ending nightmare that he is constantly being woken up, shown something, asked if it looks correct, and then put back to sleep. They're all horribly wrong. Cailin tries to tell his healer to do a true name heal, but cannot communicate anything but "not right". The forms are wildly wrong.
Cailin wakes up. He looks almost exactly like he did before he landed on Kolvir. The only difference is that he has bits of writing on him in different places. Bibliomancer Cailin offers tea. Drinking is good. Eating is okay, too, but drinking is good.
Cailin washes up. He aches. The writing washes off. The two Cailins gate to the X-files shadow, and fool around for a bit. Cailin eradicates Mulder from history with a true name destroy. It takes a lot of power. Mulder has been replaced with something called Dogget or Dagget or something like that. They go to another shadow, then clean themselves, and then bibliomancy-gate themselves to House Cara.
Cailin walks to where he left Kieron. Kieron is blowing something from a glass through a straw at the bug yeti, which is staggering around the moebius strip. Kieron says that it was given to him by someone looking a lot like Random.
Cailin tries to trump Tate and fails.
Cailin talks to Jean and gets updated on the state of Amber.
Jean asks Darkstar, who is talking with Ingold near Ingold's Pattern, if he can help with Cailin's missing healer problem. They discuss ways of getting Cailin to Darkstar without causing snow.
Darkstar draws a trump of Cailin and uses it. Placing a hand on the undead Cailin doesn't bring him into the contact - he's dead. The Cailins come through the contact. Darkstar grows another face and set of arms to talk with Cailin. Darkstar trumps Cailin again, examines the mental image, and draws a trump.
Cailin activates the trump. Ingold's Pattern dims a bit. Cailin achieves contact. The healer is dying. Cailin has Darkstar transport him back into shadow.
Jean asks if they can feed power from this Pattern to the local Titania. Darkstar asks for someone who knows her well. Jean suggests the leaf bug, which Cailin abandoned when he left for shadow. Darkstar draws a trap in mid-air, trumps the yeti-bug, it shoots into the trap. Darkstar pokes the bug, and eats its mind.
Cailin trumps the healer. The healer is burning and dying. Undead Cailin bibliomances the healer to Chaos.
Cailin gets Kieron to read the bibliomancy-token by telling him that it is okay to do dangerous things for mommy's sake. Cailin follows. Undead Cailin bibliomances himself back to Ingold's Pattern.
Cailin arrives and discovers that the healer gave up his log book and the key to the stasis field before expiring. He is also told that he will be billed for healing the god, as well. Cailin thrashes.
Cailin goes outside, asks Jean about undead Cailin, and is told that he is at Ingold's Pattern.
Cailin returns. The healer has disabled the fading stasis and re-enabled one of his own. He says that the injury is beyond his capabilities, and that they may need to call in Snarsht, who founded their Guild so that people would stop bothering him.
Darkstar pulls an image of Titania from the bug's mind, draws a trump of her, hands it to Ingold, and asks him to walk to the center of his Pattern and then trump her. Ingold starts walking, and expands as he walks.
Darkstar tells Jean to avoid Oberon - he's a nasty child. Darkstar says that it's Oberon's fault that Rainbow is pissed at him. Jean talks about grudges, and Darkstar says that Rainbow and Snarsht have had it in for each other for ages.
It takes Ingold about four hours to walk his Pattern. Ingold uses the trump, and gets a look of, "Oh, my", on his face.
The garden simulation in Amber has begun to scintillate in places.
After Ingold has been concentrating on the trump for about twelve hours, there is blood dripping down his hand from where he is holding the piece of paper. He is catching the blood in a handkerchief.
Jean asks Darkstar about balancing Titania, and is told that Norton and Jean seem to balance off each other.
Jean tries again to contact Ilk, and none respond. Jean is weird-ed out.
