Neville convinces Janus of his heritage and claims the Pattern blade. Neville and the House Moonlight crowd head back to their respective Houses. Cailin discovers that the undead Cailin has pulled himself together. Kieron horrifies his father. Natasha helps.
Neville draws the Pattern blade. No name is listed; the sword doesn't seem to be sentient. Neville removes the velvet lining the box, and finds many documents and pieces of artwork. There are names, genealogies, and proofs of birth and relationships. There is a standard trump deck, and all of the notes that Eric stole from Dworkin's safe are there.
The box, and first glance, appears to be gold, but it is heavier and completely non-malleable, even to Neville's strength.
The blade is silver, not gold.
The sword of state is made of steel. Werewindle and Andauntrick are made of gold; this blade and Greyswandir are made of silver. This blade appears to have been modeled after Greyswandir.
Neville places the blade in a leather scabbard. The scabbard bursts into flames. Neville resolves to find a scabbard in Amber. He hides the box, notes, and blade separately, leaves a Morganti guarding the items, and places another Morganti inside the box.
The gentleman who was Shiryu's apprentice who was helping Ilk trace down House Barimen shows up next to the King, bows to her, and says, "Your Highness, I have unfortunate news about the house of Barimen. They have attacked me in the fullness of my office as Shiryu's apprentice, and Shiryu withdraws any protections, associations, or anything from anyone claiming to be Barimen. It is to be discussed among those appropriate to determine whether they will still continue to be a House.
He wished to bring this to her attention as soon as it happened, being that they are your subjects.
"Not any more. From this day forth, as far as we are concerned, there is no House Barimen. Their lands are forfeit to the crown."

The wave-form that is Melk briefly forms for long enough to tell Suhuy and the Savior of Chaos that the decision has now been pushed through.
A few moments after the apprentice left, several of the people in the crowd seem to have space between them that wasn't there before.
Jean notices that all of the attacks on houses that he is watching paused simultaneously. He tells his mom.
Suhuy notices a surge of Serpent Power near House Moonlight that rippled and echoed all across Chaos. Ilk heads over to investigate.
Cailin notices that for one brief moment, it got lighter. Kieron says that he's missing one of his daggers, but Cailin didn't sit on it, so it's all good.
Cailin and Natasha bibliomancy-token to Thelbane.
Ilk notices indications that a group of people reached the lethal zone of Princess Chandra's wards, died, and fell into the moat.
Jean notices that people are starting to arrive at Thelbane. Jean sends the him with the ring over. The mob near the duel begins to migrate over. Mandor shows up, grins at Jean, and heads inside. Mandor trumps Amaranth and pulls her in. She is given the job of note an attendance-taker.
