Council of Houses in Chaos Begins

Jean has noticed that the mage working on the moon has fallen unconscious. The moon is barely pink.

Ilk finds Mandor and briefs him on Bronelle's demise at Princess Chandra's hand, the probable corruption or subversion of the Healers' Guild, and the danger of poisoning implicit to any who have been exposed to "Natasha" recently.

Mandor tells Ilk, for the sake of courtesy, that he is about to call a meeting of the Council of Houses to announce Bronelle's demise.

All of those who are heads of House are notified of a meeting of Houses at next yellow-sky turning. Yellow-sky turning is imminent.

An invitation is delivered to Osric's drop-box in House Chanicut.

Calla and Gil are in Castle Amber delivering invitations to Cailin and Natasha's wedding. Their next invitation is addressed to Llewella. They go to Hamster Gerard for permission; Gerard checks with King Neville who agrees to let them in. Jean leads them to Llewella's rooms. Brandt is on guard out front, playing with cards. They enter. Llewella doesn't appear to notice Gil. Calla delivers the invitation, and then discovers that the next invitation in the stack is for Gerard. Calla asks for Gerard's location and discovers that Gerard is believed dead, and ends up giving Llewella her word to give her any information that she might ever want in the future.

As they leave the room, a member of the Etiquette Guild greets them and delivers an invitation to the council meeting. Gil rants at Calla for her lack of deviousness.

Calla asks if anyone knows how to contact Gerard. Jean pipes up, and determines that the invitation could pass (this invitation, unlike the others, is on an organic material -- lambskin) and that since both Gil and Calla have Pattern, they should survive, too.

However, the meeting is determined to be too soon, and Jean whales Calla and Gil to just outside Thelbane.

There is a knock at Neville's door in House Helgram in Amber. It's a member of an Etiquette Guild, delivering an invitation to a council meeting. Neville asks about the timing, and is told that the next yellow sky is imminent. Neville asks the messenger if instruction could be arranged for his new House second, and the messenger agrees to begin immediately. Neville switches the crown of Amber for his House ring, trumps to the Black Zone, and heads towards Thelbane.

There is a knock at Suhuy's ways. There is a member of the Etiquette Guild there, with an invitation to the council meeting for him. After more groveling on the part of the council meeting, Suhuy also accepts Savior of Chaos's invitation for delivery.

Hamster Finndo notices a member of the Etiquette Guild waving at him. He drops to ground level, accepts an envelope, opens it with tractors and pressors, reads the invitation, and declares it to be delivered.

Ilk goes to visit Snarsht in Amber. He points out the probable subversion of the Healers' Guild, and Cailin's possible poisoning.

Snarsht's response is fairly indifferent. "Wait thirty or forty turnings and see if he dies."

Ilk counters. "Princess Chandra likes him."

Snarsht sighs. "I'll take a look"

Ilk heads to Cailin. Snarsht knocks at the outside of Suhuy's ways, exchanges greetings, and heads to the garage. Ilk moves Cailin to the garage.

Cailin was not dreaming, but now gains the sensation of having Snarsht walk through his brain. He is being guided down every single time in which he has touched Natasha, or in which she has touched him. Cailin tries to stretch out his body, and fails.

People are collecting in front of Thelbane. The doors are closed and barred from the inside. When Swayville-Jean arrives, Jean opens the doors for himself from the inside. People start funneling in.

There is an indication on Neville's chair that subtly implies visiting royalty.

There is now a third balcony in the council chambers, at the same level as the balconies for the lesser houses and the guilds. Calla is seated at the third table.

Cailin wakes up. He's a few inches tall. His body is over there. Snarsht is curled up, playing with a bunch of kittens. Some confusion occurs, notes are written by Ilk. Cailin asks for clothes; Ilk paints the homoculus instead. Ilk notices that the homoculus doesn't have any Pattern. Cailin notices that this body doesn't have any magic or shapeshifting.

Ilk drops the homoculus in the lap of the Etiquette Guild member with Cailin's invitation, and hands him a saucer-Jean. Homoculus-Cailin takes his invitation, hails saucer-Jean, boards, and they head towards Thelbane. Cailin and Jean chat en-route.

Ilk asks Melk for assistance in being at the meeting and hunting for Mikail at the same time. Shiryu echoes to the Realms Lords room, stating that they can get in touch with them if something important comes up.

Ilk checks the room for Bronelle power. There are new traces all over the walls. He tells Suhuy to tell Shiryu.

Ferethyn wanders over to Cailin and pats him. Cailin feels a brief touch on his mind, and then Ferethyn wanders off. Cailin notices a pressure on his finger -- the homoculus is now wearing an appropriately-sized House ring.

Neville looks for shifter poison. There is some on the previously-known places that are marked off with Savior of Chaos tape. There are touches of poison all around, but not directly on, Princess Chandra's normal place. Cailin's old chair is heavily coated in poison. Neville cannot perceive the new balcony with his visor down.

Shiryu asks Suhuy to notify him if anything comes through the walls -- the hole is more important.

Neville asks Cailin not to sit in his normal seat, and tells him of the poison. People try to get in touch with Ilk, who fails to respond in Thelbane, not being technically present. Jean in Suhuy's ways succeeds; Ilk causes Savior of Chaos tape to appear around the newly discovered patches of poison.

Hamster Finndo is down by Cailin, chatting.

In the balcony: Janus, Gil, Calla, Evil Benedict, the Clown Prince, Raven, Sir Erik, Flora, Zack, Random (still unconscious), Martin, Laetatio, Duncan, Shannon, Beldin, Hamster Fiona, Hamster Dworkin, Hamster Llewella, and Hamster Llewella's spawn are there. Hamster Fiona had to get out of the saucer-Jean to get into the balcony.

No Auricle, Norton, ex-undead Cailin, or Osric.

Suhuy is poking at the walls and investigating the Bronelle power there. The power does not seem to be directly linked to another place; he investigates further.

Hamster Finndo wanders around and talks to some more people, making his presence known, then sneaks out.

At just when the sky turns yellow, Pharaban and Mandor walk in next to one another. Mandor walks to the front of the House meeting, looks around, and sits down in his chair.

Suhuy notices a small wrapping of magic like cellophane wrap over Mandor's chair, that wasn't there the moment before Mandor sat down.

The Warlord of Chaos walks in the door, avoids any difficulties, and sits down in her chair. She is apparently the only member of the Realms Lords visible. Mandor stands, bows to her, and sits back down again.

Mandor calls the meeting to order. Marial stands and announces that Ilkandacian has triumphed over Bronelle. About half-way through Marial's tale, Princess Chandra enters the room, and when the story is complete, Princess Chandra corroborates it.

[Somewhere that is not Thelbane, Ilk is silently fuming]

After her vote of thanks to the Savior of Chaos, she then apologizes for being late and says that Snarsht will not be able to attend as he is otherwise occupied.

Jean asks REN if he should apologize for Rainbow, who is also absent. REN considers it to be a good idea, so Jean announces Rainbow's regrets.

Mandor states that there are several reasons to have called this meeting. The first is that the Poisoners' Guild and their leader are no more. If any former members of the ex-Poisoners' Guild wish to surrender, they must approach Princess Chandra, Ilkandacian, or Marial, and beg forgiveness. If they survive said begging, they will be re-admitted to the realm of Chaos. If they have not done so within one turning, then they are fair targets for any and all.

He also welcomes Dworkin's descendants, waves at the third balcony, and points out that their King now sits as a member of the council.

He points out that Chaos's King seems to be derelict in his duties and has abandoned them in their time of need. Mandor calls for vote of no confidence in Caine as King. Cailin votes no confidence, Neville abstains, Swayville abstains, Vlad loudly votes no confidence and then mutters something about "can't even hold his alcohol".

There are only two votes of confidence, both from low houses.

Pharaban votes no confidence. Chanicut votes no confidence loudly and nominates the Hero of Chanicut for King. Mandor accepts their vote but determines their nomination to be out of order, and votes no confidence as well. Mandor asks if any wish to change their votes of confidence or abstentions to votes of no confidence. Nobody says anything. Mandor declares Caine to no longer be King, and therefore no longer under the protection of this council. Any of those with personal quarrels with Caine are now free to pursue them, and any of those with quarrels over the way he held the kingship should talk to Mandor regarding proper disposition of the complaint before acting upon it.

Mandor re-opens the floor to nominations for King of Chaos. Chanicut immediately nominates the Savior of Chanicut. Cailin seconds the nomination.

Jean turns towards REN and says, "It's that time again!"

Vlad stands up and nominates REN. Marial stands, bows to the council, apologizes that it is not her normal place to nominate people, and then suggests the Lady Flora of Amber, and that those who nominate her might do well. Holtiharnia immediately pops up, nominates Flora of Amber, then sits down and asks, "Who's Flora of Amber?" Swayville seconds the nomination. Flora stands and declares that she is significantly flattered at the nomination then sits back down without either accepting or rejecting the nomination.
