Jean speculates on the state of the Warriors' Guild and asks the Etiquette Guild for the head and second of that Guild. They aren't entirely sure... Jean points out to Osric that Chaos may be missing leaders for the Warriors' Guild.
Cailin reverts from the giant butterfly to his base form -- a blob -- then shifts into a roc.
Jean, Osric, and Cailin discuss relocating the settlers from Cataan to someplace that isn't unraveling.
Cailin is delighted when Jean tells him that Princess Chandra had the dragons "clean" Toram's lands.
After some discussion, King Osric grants Toram's lands to House Moonlight.
Cailin prepares to move the solar system to his new shadow, and summons a Sarauman to look for the malevolent attacker. Cailin opens a planetary-scale magical gate and starts sliding it past the planets and star.
Cailin, near the Old Lord ex-pig-pile, convinces the Old Lords to return to Cataan and resume the attack.
Ferethyn, Princess Chandra, misunderstood Benedict, local Benedict, hamster Dworkin, and Norton are in Vanir's Wrath outside Julian's lair.
Misunderstood Benedict prepares to knock on the door, then spots and presses a glowing button to the side of the door.
Ilk and Jean, in Julian's control room, hear Julian give out a curse. There is a gathering of mystical power and a multi-legged misshapen thing goes flying off as a result. It runs off into one of the anti-Pattern areas, screams, and dies. Julian fails to notice, stands, and threads a very careful path to one of the doors. He opens it and stomps off.
Jean tells his contact in Marial's army that Julian just went to the bathroom or something, and that they aren't sure who is in charge of the Warriors' Guild any more. The contact falls over laughing.
Ferethyn points out a gathering of power near the door. Norton steps to the side. Local Benedict jumps up and perches behind a protrusion above the door. As soon as he lands, he screams and twitches.
A space next to local Benedict above the door opens and Julian says, "Benedict -- so good to see you."
Misunderstood Benedict replies, "No, I'm down here."
Julian tries to stab local Benedict, who parries. Julian continues to attack, and local Benedict continues to parry. Misunderstood Benedict asks if he can enter, fails to receive a response, and decides that he can enter. Misunderstood Benedict opens the door with some small effort.
Julian slams the upper door closed and runs off into the house. Benedict jams his foot into the door and follows.
Misunderstood Benedict tries to invite Norton in, but Norton bounces off the plane of the doorway. The Ilk head pokes through the doorway, and invites Norton in, but Norton still can't enter. Norton tries asking Julian for an invitation at range and volume, but fails to receive a response.
Ferethyn and Hamster Dworkin walk in. Hamster Dworkin does something with his Jewel of Judgment, and Ferethyn invites Norton in successfully. [Hamster Dworkin made the house un-owned.]
Norton and Ilk discuss blood-sucking, invitations, common vampire myths, and deceased Kodak film-processing agents.
Misunderstood Benedict is holding several crossbow bolts and has a few bullet holes in him. Ferethyn is busy. Ferethyn's pocket claims that Ferethyn can't hear Norton yet -- he's busy. Norton offers to heal misunderstood Benedict, but fails, and Benedict isn't badly wounded.
Misunderstood Benedict sits down in a chair. Straps launch across his chest and arms. Misunderstood Benedict stands up, breaking the straps, then sits down again. Nothing happens. Norton takes that chair. The next chair has two iterations of spikes that are broken off, then Ferethyn sits down. Misunderstood Benedict prepares a third chair for himself, then decides to prepare two more chairs for local Benedict and Julian.
Ilk and the Ilk head can see brief magical explosions, as Julian tries to attack Benedict magically and is blocked by Ferethyn.
Norton makes a blood-centipede. Norton makes a sign, reading,"Julian - they just want to talk!" The centipede is unable to hold the sign, due to scale problems. Norton asks misunderstood Benedict about his pig and the gargoyle-jazz band on the roof -- both were destroyed. Norton offers to create another undead pig to compensate for the old one, then makes pixel-lady blood-bugs at misunderstood Benedict's request.
The Savior of Chaos greets Ferethyn over the Realms Lord channel. They chat, and Ilk fills Ferethyn in. Ferethyn talks to misunderstood Benedict, and the group heads off towards Jean and Ilk in Julian's lab. Ferethyn walks into the room, following the path that Julian inscribed and Ilk described, and starts to examine Julian's desk. Ferethyn states out loud that there is a great deal of power present, a number of trumps, and some bibliomantic symbols.
Ferethyn warns the others to close the door and does something. There is a rumbling and a thwot, and Ferethyn is somewhat singed.
From somewhere in the house, there is a strangled scream and the sound of hurried footsteps heading towards the group.
Julian comes rushing in, and exclaims, "What have you done!"
Ferethyn - "Gotten your attention."
Julian pulls a magical dagger and launches himself at Ferethyn.
Norton - "They just want to talk!"
Julian - "Who are you?"
Ferethyn keeps blocking Julian's attacks.
Julian claims that misunderstood Benedict is an impostor. He causes a gun in the wall to shoot at misunderstood Benedict, who sways to the side and catches the bullet.
Julian sputters a bit after being told by Ferethyn that they will stop breaking his desk as soon as he stops attacking Ferethyn's reality.
Norton and the Ilk head provide a laugh track, until Julian decides that they are just a distraction and turns his attention back to Ferethyn.
Misunderstood Benedict stands up and walks towards Julian, right through the anti-Pattern pieces, collecting them as he goes. He leans over Julian's desk, says that Julian should listen to them, turns, and walks through another anti-Pattern piece, scraping it up as he goes.
Misunderstood Benedict tries to sell Julian on Dworkinetics. A career in architectural design is suggested. Julian sputters.
Julian finally agrees, and Hamster Dworkin climbs out of Ferethyn's pocket. Julian's eyes light up when he sees the Jewel around the hamster's neck. Hamster Dworkin climbs onto Julian's desk. Julian grabs at Hamster Dworkin, but Hamster Dworkin just holds Julian's hand open.
"I don't think that's quite in the spirit of things."
Misunderstood Benedict walks out in search of food. Hamster Dworkin starts the discussion. A bit later, misunderstood Benedict returns with snacks.
Misunderstood Benedict stays to watch the conversation. Ferethyn and Norton head upstairs to grab our local Benedict and leave. Benedict wants to stay and tear the house down room by room, but is convinced that he shouldn't give Julian the pleasure of setting off the trap explicitly designed for him.
Ilk asks Jean to keep an eye on Norton, but Jean doesn't know where "here" is. Ilk asks Ferethyn to import a Jean; a Jean in Chaos is gated to above Norton, Benedict, and Ferethyn and nearly stabbed by Benedict. The saucer remoras into Norton's back, and a membrane grows over him.
Ferethyn and Benedict take their leave and return to Chaos.
When Ferethyn gets back to Chaos, he broadcasts on the Realms Lord channel a summary of what went on in Vanir's Wrath.
Jean experiments with a member of the Shifters' Guild. Jean has some difficulty with killing himself -- the Julian clones fail to die when stabbed through the heart, and the Dzurlords reflexively dodge the thrust.
[Jean doesn't have enough warfare to kill himself!]
Jean acquires a Verra worshiper, mind-wipes him, and buds in. Jean brings his new body to Swayville and stabs it. The Jean ghost is pulled into the scale, and Jean hasn't forgotten anything. Jean does the happy death dance.
Jean tries to see if the saucers can shapeshift after no longer being Jean. The Shifters' Guild rep tries to teach one of the saucers, and determines that it doesn't seem to have the knack for it now.
Jean pulls out of an hour of saucers, and tries to have ten minutes worth trained as ????shifters????warriors???
There is now definitely a stronger Jean presence in the scale. Much more of Jean's presence is there, and it is more aware and sentient.
Jean finds that the ghosts cannot cross a shadow-barrier, but if two shadows are connected via a way, the ghosts can travel the ways. If the ghost is more than three ways away or the entire length of Chaos from the scale, Jean's attention span tends to falter and the ghost dissipates.
Jeans can't tow ghosts effectively. Jean ghosts can slide into an empty body. Ghosts cannot go into the fish.
Jean brings Verra to Swayville and introduces her to the saucers. They don't understand worship, so Verra takes two of them off for lessons.
Jean imports a torqued arrogant priest to experiment with. The priest is shocked to discover that there is a Verra, and falls to his knees. Jean pulls out of the torque, and it closes, popping the priest's head off.
Verra eventually discovers that unlife does not have the capacity to worship.
Jean explains the fudge-sicles to Verra. She is horrified at something worshiping her brother -- she's the one in the family that receives worship -- and she decides to convert the fudgesicles to her worship.
