Cailin is in another piece of fruit, trying to figure out how to get home. He contacts Titania. They chat. She walks him through creating a number of small white rocks, placing them in a circle around him, turning widdershins three times, and Faerie-gating to her.
Cailin appears next to Titania in Ferethyn's ways. Kieron is there, wearing footy-pyjamas with a picture of a bunny and a saucer with a line through it. Jean doesn't seem to be noticing -- he can only see a blue blur on Kieron's chest.
Jean and Cailin walk into the conference room. Sitting at a table in the room is Silver Lyra. Cailin and Silver Lyra talk. She doesn't want to become King again, and doesn't want the people who want her on the throne to know that she's fine. Silver Lyra is watching the remaining viewscreens in the room.
Cailin steps through the viewscreen into Chaos and finds himself in Random's embassy. There's a broken guitar nearby. He sees people from the Ambassadors' Guild there cleaning up the mess.
Cailin leaves the Ambassadors' Guild, realizes that he doesn't know how to navigate around this part of Chaos, conjures a feather, fails to notice any snow, and gates to inside House Cara. There are two guys there playing cards. Cailin asks them where the people who were evacuated went. They both look up and shrug at the same time. They both look a lot like Dworkin.
Cailin heads outside into the party. He asks a Jean where Gauss is. Jean whales Cailin to a spot outside of the Mathematicians Guild. On his way into the whale, he notices an altercation between a squid and a bogeyman. The bogeyman is telling the squid that it can't paint any more of the whale's teeth; the squid is ignoring the bogeyman. The squid doesn't seem to be very bright.
Jean warns Gauss that Cailin is arriving, probably to talk to the archivist.
Cailin works his way into the Mathematicians Guild and eventually arrives at the group. He interrogates the Archivist about the bibliomantic mandala, and tries to get Jean to bug Shiryu about the nature of Cataan.
Cailin and Beldin Pattern-walk into shadow so Cailin can experiment with Cailin's signature, again. They encounter a guy with a torc around his neck who offers them flowers for Verra. Cailin and Jean chat. Jean tells Cailin that Oberon is dead, and pops the priest's head off to provide a visual demonstration.
Beldin scans for Cailin's signature and doesn't find it anywhere, even in Cailin.
Kintani has been chasing a wave form for a while, and ended up near a clump with a bunch of Realms Lords, who are just standing around. Kintani asks Melk how he can become older. "How quickly?" Melk explains that it is not the passing of time that is important, but the choosing to grow. Melk pawns it off on the Savior of Chaos, who is mostly confused.
Cailin stretches out to look for his own signature. He can't find it, not even being generated by the spell that he is using to look for his own signature. Cailin can see Beldin's signature, but he can't see his own. Cailin continues to fool around. His signature and spells seem to be invisible.
Cagliostra's alarms in Castle Yellowsky all go off. A massive magical source just appeared out of nowhere. Cagliostra warns the others and prepares his escape route.
Cailin starts walking towards the castle. The locals wonder why he hasn't blown himself up on the defenses yet. A hero challenges Cailin from the battlements, and is told that he is only here to conduct magical research.
Cagliostro starts trying to detect the amount of power outside. It keeps overloading his detectors. He heads up to the battlements and asks for a clarification. Cailin is amazed at seeing the specks of magical power up there, and stares at them. No sign of Toram.
Cailin - "I'm sorry... I must have mistaken you for something more powerful. I'll be on my way now."
Cagliostro sends a minion down with photographs of "the calif". Cailin flips through it. The guy in the center of the photos resembles Toram a lot -- not him, but maybe a son or a cousin.
Beldin does some simple Pattern-magic and determines that there is at least one Amberite in there. Cailin determines that they'll need to return at some point.
Cailin gates to back in front of the Mathematicians Guild. The world opens up around them and they're falling, falling, falling... Cailin starts trying to fly up. Or left. Or... This reminds him a lot of the Abyss. Cailin gives up, uses a bibliomantic token, and appears in his House.
Beldin approaches the clump of Realms Lords, grumbling. He bows appropriately.
["So, is there an appropriate bow from ex-Realms Lord to apprentice to debacle?"]
Serpent's Apprentice has been feeding Serpent power to Kintani. Kintani is visibly growing. The blue offends his Serpent-hood, so he resets Kintani to factory defaults, and he's black again.
Beldin asks the group if they would be willing to extract Cailin from the Abyss before he creates a disturbance in trying to get himself out. Ilk reaches out for Cailin, and finds him in House Moonlight. Ilk tells Beldin, who blames Ilk for rescuing Cailin and gates out. Cailin and Beldin chat and head towards the Mathematicians Guild.
The large black dragon arrives at the Guild in search of Snarsht at the same time as a null-d individual. There's not much there, as if most of him was missing. Cailin claims to be an Old Lord.
Cailin tells Kintani about the possibly surviving descendent of the former head of the Mages' Guild, and shows him something with his signature. Kintani smells rotting garbage, and sneezes it away.
All three enter the Guild. Kintani tells Snarsht that the Serpent's Apprentice removed that which he was going to fix. Snarsht grins. Cailin tells Snarsht that their job may be incomplete. Snarsht does something and Rainbow and Fredrick reappear.
Fredrick blames his anti-Ilk quest on Mikail. Mikail supposedly gave them all proof that Ilk was up to no good. The dragon goes outside and fetches Jean to listen to this. Jean explains to Kintani about Mikail and the smiting.
Jean checks with Dworkin. Dworkin think that they should protect their kin, even from the stupidity of their own actions. When Dworkin hears of Fredrick's vendetta against Ilkandacian, Dworkin asks Ilk via Jean to just ignore it for a while. Ilk agrees to do so.
Jean and Cailin go off to talk. Kintani asks if he can just eat Fredrick. Jean asks Brandt what inessential body parts can be eaten, and is pointed at single limbs.
Kintani tells Fredrick that he owes a debt to Ilkandacian, and if he persists in trying to kill him, he'll have to start eating limbs. Fredrick claims that he'll have to kill Kintani, then.
Jean asks for Fredrick's lineage. Fredrick claims that they were killed by Ilkandacian and is generally unhelpful.
Jean asks Flora what should be done about a foolish Amberite of uncertain heritage has Flora steps sideways in Vanir's Wrath, steps back out in the Mathematicians' Guild, and throws a grenade at Fredrick. It whacks him in the head, knocking him out. Flora picks up her grenade and walks off.
The Archivist draws something on Fredrick's chest and he disappears. "He's in House Cara, and stuck there until that wears off."
Cailin asks Rainbow and Snarsht for other sources of magic. Rainbow materializes in humanoid form, walks over to Snarsht, raises a finger, and Darkstar disappears. Ilk can tell that Darkstar is back in the shifter trap again.
Shiryu explains to Jean that "new Cataan" is actually a black zone kingdom, and part of the Serpent's Chaos. Jean recommends to Cailin that he ask his grandmother to consult with the Serpent.
Jean, in Cobalt, relays the question to Princess Chandra. Jean distracts Dworkin, and Flora and Zack are brought in as well to discuss funeral and coronation arrangements.
Princess Chandra goes to Cailin's location. Bows happen. Princess Chandra points out that Flora has been there recently - her perfume lingers.
The Serpent will have to move, and then Cailin will have to clean it up, because if the Serpent moves and Cailin doesn't fix it, he'll be annoyed.
People discuss acquiring Patterns and the recent loss of the castle Pattern. Cailin then tries to quickly explain the fate of Tir's Pattern, including the bit about it being on the horn of the Unicorn.
Jean briefs Silver Lyra on the Unicorn situation.
Jean summons Zorro to rescue the poor settlers from Cataan. Princess Chandra states that she needs to go and convince the Serpent to move. She advises Ilk to stay put on her way out.
Kintani shifts from the Old Lord mob to the Realms Lord mob.
Jean advises King Osric of the recent situation. Serpent moving, cleansing new Cataan, Oberon's death, Julian's death, an Amberite with a vendetta against Ilk, and so on.
Zorro is charging. Cailin is plotting. Osric is going to start towing. Princess Chandra has gone convincing.
A hexapod on a unicycle is approaching the Realms Lord group, carrying pizza.
Ilk warns Kintani to stay out of the new Cataan fight. Kintani tells Ilk about the possible relative of Toram, and asks if he should go to tell the Dragon Council. Ilk yoinks a few extra hard links of Cailin's notes from Gauss. Kintani heads off on his maturity flight across the Sea, with a hard-link of Cailin's notes.
Ilk is planning on going off hunting for Toram's relative.
