Cailin and Tate decide to hang out and leave to visit Grandma assassin when things get slow.
Ilk tries to encourage someone to trump Malachai. Cassandra tries, and doesn't get anywhere. Ilk, and "Zack" help. "Zack" suggests that they can try to trump him through Faerie. Ilk moves Corwin, Cassandra, Cailin, Osric, Celeste, "Zack", and himself to the trump gate on the edge of the House Cara property.
Tendri'd Ilk spreads out, attempting to find the location of all of the armies in Chaos.
The group tries to trump Zack through the gate, and fails. Zack goes through the Faerie gate, which looks like an old tree. They discuss Faerie, and what they should do. Ilk and Corwin decide to follow; the others decide to stay at the gate.
The others see the Faerie gate produce a long female arm with silvery fingernails, wave at Celeste, then withdraw.
There is a thin sliver of a scream floating by. It sounds like Auricle. "Zack" grabs it.
"Zack" tries to trump Malachai. The trump has a picture of himself. Nothing happens. He flips through the deck - all of the male trumps have pictures of Zack, and the female trumps have pictures of Ivy - well, Ivy if she was a redhead.
"Zack" calls over a resident, who fails to produce any useful information.
The folks outside the gate are waiting for the folks inside Faerie to return. Osric makes a platform. Celeste conjures toys and tosses them at the Jean demons. The toys do not behave in a consistent fashion, and many of them acquire a life of their own and wander off. Celeste conjures and plays with bubbles.
Ilk tries to convince "Zack" to return through the gate.
"Zack" and Ilk go back through the gate into Chaos; they do not see Corwin. "Zack" jumps back through. Ilk looks for the others - they're not around. Ilk asks Jean - Jean tells him that they went up. Ilk goes back through.
Two dwarves come up to "Zack" and say, "you're late!" Ilk and "Zack" manage to brush off the dwarves, and dive back through the gate. They climb physically up through the Jeans through a number of gates to find the others.
Two dwarves run through the gate, chat briefly with Jean, decide that they are in an enchanted forest, and run off.
Ilk and "Zack" rejoin the others. Cassandra is not pleased at the loss of her father. She takes back Malachai's trump, and tries to trump her father. She fails.
Thirty or forty dwarves poke their heads out of the Faerie gate one at a time, ask where the others went, and wander off in search of the others.
Ilk pulls the group back to the gate, where they discover that dwarves have been flooding through the gate. Ilk starts pulling dwarves back to the gate, but gets bored quickly. Jean passes dwarves hand-over-hand back towards the gate.
The dwarves claim that they were ordered through the gate by Ilkandacian, Savior of Chaos. They show a poorly chiseled note saying "Ilk made us do it -- the dwarves"
Tendri'd Ilk has run into a problem - he has noticed a number of other tendri'd things spread across Chaos.
The flying saucer notices occasional disturbances in or just above the sea of Jeans. Occasionally it look like heat waves are passing between the flying saucer and the sea. Jean asks Ilk on grand tour what that is.
Ilk sends a few bugs over to look at the area Jean indicated. It's a Sign of the Logrus. The signature is local, and Familiar to Ilk. It belongs to a known master-level Logrus user. [Kenthor or Mendrin]
Ilk sends a small Logrus manifestation over to greet the Sign, and the Sign disappears.
The other Ilks start looking for things as well.
The Ilk by the Faerie gate spots another Sign of the Logrus, generated by the same signature. He warns the others, and starts to initiate contact. As soon as the contact is possible, a wave of incoming Logrus energy launches from the shield at the group.
"Osric - shields!" Osric raises a bubble of his power around the group. The Logrus energy impacts the shields. It rains crickets, grasshoppers, and daggers.
The effect seemed to be an major randomizer, one level below the Sea of Chance.
Jean starts rolling the ball towards House Cara. When they get back, Ilk notices a subtle change to the area of the roof, a spoor left by the signature of the thing that they just encountered.
[It's a giant hamster-ball!]
The moment that Osric's shields drops, he notices something searching for him. He raises a personal shield around himself. Osric complains to Ilk. Cailin looks around, and spots a sorcerous scrying scanning the area. Celeste spots the scrying as well. She raises shields around the group against it, and looks at it. She recognizes the signature. She looks around, "Everybody, duck and cover. Raise 'em if you've got 'em. If you can look like someone else, do it."
A bright, glowing red flame envelops Cassandra. Ilk tendri's out. The Jean demons everywhere start acting like the demons around Helgram, and the people wandering around the newly "safe" Chaos start running in panic.
Celeste takes Jean's hand. She is now in psychic contact with Jean. She tries to download the image of how to raise shields to him. Logrus Jean has the experience of having his box of spells opened, riffled through, and has a spell pulled out and shown to him. Jean casts it. All of the Jeans, everywhere, just raised shields. Many of the people running in panic through the demons are squished. The demons stop pretending to be ravening and start playing with the shields. Celeste is no longer in mental contact with Jean. Zack's shields are bright blue. Jean tries to figure out how to modify his shields, now that he has no other distractions. Tate is in a polychromatic shifting web. Celeste thinks that he's doing it with trump. He's holding a card. Celeste keeps modulating her shields.
