The SIPB jEdit Locker


jEdit is an open source (GPL) Java-based text editor with many advanced features. jEdit includes syntax highlighting modes for over 90 types of files. It has a built-in scripting & macro language BeanShell, and can be extended through the use of freely availible plugins. For more information, go to the jEdit Website

Running jEdit on Athena

To run jEdit on athena, you will first need to attach the jedit locker. This can be done by executing the following command:
athena% add jedit

This will attach the jedit locker to /mit/jedit. To launch jedit, type:
athena% jedit &

Command Line Options

For a full listing of jEdit's command line options, read the jEdit manpage online, or type the command:
athena% jedit -usage

Additional options are availible on Athena:

Lists the versions of jEdit that are availible for your particular hardware platform.
--runver <version>
Runs the specified version of jedit
