Imagine a project which involves the cooperation of an international consortium of scientists, researchers, governments, and industry, a project meant to explore the our planet's most untapped resource - the deep sea floor.
The new Atlantis II deep-sea laboratory will push the limits of engineering creativity and industrial implementation to establish a habitat on the ocean floor near the Edmond Vent System.
The goals of the scientists heading this project are more than simple experimentation and collection of data. The Atlantis II project could possibly reveal new discoveries, as the deep sea environments may hold the secrets of the formation of Earth and the evolution of primordial life in the seas millions of years ago.
