This website details the refinement of an invention notebook developed by Design-o-mite. This idea has been developed through storyboards, concept sketches, looks-like and works-like concept models, and is now ready to be developed as a complete product.
The team looked at the three core elements of the notebook: its cover, contents, and layout.
The cover is important to the book's shelf appeal. It's the first thing that potential customers see. The cover sets the tone for what the rest of the book is going to be like. The cover also becomes a symbol to the user of what content is inside — content that existed there before, as well as content that has been created by the user.
The content is the most important part of the invention notebook. It looks at what ideas are addressed and how they should be presented. It establishes the age range and the level of complexity of the book. Our designers explored several different options and looked at different way of communicating with the user.
The layout of the invention notebook looks at the graphic design, color, imagery, and arrangement of the pages in the book. The layout is also important because its form expresses the ideas of the book to the user, which communicates the emotion and tone of the book.
