Christmas is just in less than a week and things are starting to brighten up around the house. I went out and bought presents for father and Claude and began thinking of what I'm going to cook this year.
It has been a year and a half now since Claude arrived and we have really become a family. Claude and I are planning on getting married sometime in the middle of next year. Father is very happy for us. He plans on leaving the shop to Claude after retirement. Father hasn't been feeling very well lately and Claude has spent a lot of time managing the shop. I think he has a runny nose and a constant headache, some good food and family will but him in better spirits, I'm sure. The other men have been working well with Claude, they respect him as a man and a printer. It makes me happy to see the him working at the presses.
About a week ago, father and Claude completed a first copy print of some new texts sent down from the church. Father has been printing mostly catholic doctrine and some philosophical texts that come in from the university for the past 10 years or so. They sent the first copy to the Administration for censorship and general checking purposes. Claude did not go without a fight. Up until now, father has had back order printing, things that did not have to be sent to the Crown to be reviewed. He continues to complain that we are not being trusted and they have no right to regulate the passage of information. It frustrates father a bit because this is the way that he has been printing for years. He stopped questioning the system a long time ago.
