I have a little girl! Her name is Danielle and she is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. She has Claude's eyes and my chin and father's funny little stubborn nose. Claude closed the shop today, something that I believe has never been done. I can't ever remember father taking a day off except for when we would go to visit Aunt Colette in Versailles, and that was only on Sundays.
Claude and Rosalie were by my side through the entire thing, bringing me warm water and lifting my spirits. Rosalie says that I was one of the quickest births she had ever seen. Sometimes women can go through labor all day. For me it was an hour and a half from contraction to birth. Flowers keep arriving from printers in the area and Claude's friends. As I write there are a bunch of them outside who are here to congratulate him and of course have a drink. Rosalie keeps running from my bedside to the hall to make sure that they haven't broken anything. She is a good girl.
The conversations that are floating seem to be of a new topic. Something I haven't heard about before. Apparently there has been a royal arret to ensure that "educated people" should have "free expression". But who is an "educated person"? I can't seem to pick it up. The men outside seem very excited, something about approaching a free press system in Paris. I am eager to get outside and involved but I can't move, I have a little life in my lap!
