My life changed today. The most amazing man walked into my life. He showed up at father's shop looking for work. I was standing by the press the moment I heard the door knock. I went to answer it and there was this tall beautiful man with hair that seemed to cascade off of his head and surround his face with a border of dark locks. He looked me in the eye and smiled. I almost melted. He asked,
"Is the owner of the press in?"
Luckily, father stepped in front of me at that very moment and invited him in. I was speechless. I watched as the two of them walked towards a table covered in paper and start discussing matters. It turns out his name was Claude Bousier and he was originally from Orleans, he was 22 years old and searching for work. He had arrived in Paris a couple of days prior and had been spending his nights in a small boarding house down the street. He was informed that my father was one of the most decent printers in all of Paris and to look for work here.
Father took a liking to him immediately. Over dinner that night he mentioned to me that he felt his handshake was firm, his jaw square and his overall demeanor very trustworthy. I couldn't argue. The two of them had spent the afternoon discussing his training and what father would expect from Claude at the shop. I stopped listening after a while. I was incredibly excited about having Claude working in the same shop, about seeing him everyday and talking to him about wonderful things. Oh dear, I'm starting to drift away now. I shall go to sleep and dream of him until tomorrow when he shall be near me again.
Good night
