I guess Karen's meal came because she and Gordon were out on the
dancefloor with us after a little while. Gordon was getting down
okay, but Karen just couldn't get behind the music. I've tried to
teach her to dance before, but she says she doesn't like techno music.
It turns out that Karen and Gordon had similar tastes in music (I knew that from talking to them both before; that's another reason I set them up), so they both went off to request music after about five minutes. I gave a quick glance back to Paul to make sure everything was going okay with him, but then I turned back to that corner table with Tom and Charles and David. Tom was pointing me out to David, and David started to get up out of his chair. Oh God, what was he going to do? Was he going to try to get back together with me here at the prom? No, he knew that this time I broke up with him for good. What else could he have been doing? Maybe he was going to threaten me or rough me up or something. Tom and Charles also weren't too happy with me, but that's just because they listen to David all the time. God, whatever David was plotting was not going to be good news. I wouldn't let David ruin my prom! I grabbed Paul and dragged him off the dancefloor back to our table. A little bit later, Karen and Gordon came back to find us there. | ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
