Preparation for Recitation on Bitcoin

Read Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System by Satoshi Nakamoto. Skim section 11; you do not need to understand the math, only the implication that it is difficult for an attacker to create an alternate chain.

In lecture, we'll cover the basics of digital currency. As you read the paper, think about how Bitcoin solves the problems covered in lecture, and also think about what else one could do with the type of distributed log that Bitcoin provides.

No question for recitation, but we do expect you to attend and participate.
