Preparation for Network Neutrality Recitation Read Approaches to Transparency Aimed at Minimizing Harm and Maximizing Investment, by Clark et al. (Comment In the Matter of Protecting and Promoting the Open Internet, GN Docket No. 14-28) Read the paper, focusing primarily on the last two sections. For background, please also read these two short pages: Tim Wu's FAQ and this brief note by Tim Berners-Lee. You may also find the Wikipedia article on net neutrality helpful, but beware that this is a particularly contentious Wikipedia article. Read the paper and answer the following question: Recall our previous lecture on in-network resource management, and in particular the problem (discussed in that lecture and in other recitations) of throughput-sensitive and latency-sensitive traffic coexisting.As network engineers, how might net neutrality influence our solutions to this problem? |
