Labs

The lab assignments in 6.1800 are designed to reinforce some of the abstract concepts from the lectures and readings, and to let you find out how things really work.

Accessing the labs

The labs are set up as assignments on Gradescope. They typically release around 12:00pm Eastern on their release date and are due at 11:59pm on their due date. You'll know when they're released because they'll appear on the list below, and on the main calendar.

Getting help

If you have any questions about the labs, or need help getting started, office hours are a great place to start! If you are having trouble accessing Gradescope, first make sure that you are actually registered for 6.1800; your Gradescope access is tied to your registration. If you're definitely registered, email 6.1800-personal@mit.edu and we will help you figure that out how to get access.

Extension policy

If you reach out to Taylor ahead of the deadline, we will give you a 24-hour extension on any lab, no questions asked. If you feel that a longer extension is necessary, we'll work with you (and perhaps S3) to come up with a plan.

Grading

Our goal is to release grades for each lab one week after it's due. You'll be able to see your grades, and submit regrade requests if necessary, directly on Gradescope—you'll get an email when grades are released. You can submit regrade requests for a particular hands-on for up to one week after the grades are released.

Each lab counts as 5% of your final grade.
