Consortium team-teaching provides the opportunity for full-time faculty from the nine participating universities to collaborate with scholars from other fields and institutions. Faculty reach beyond the language of their own discipline to enrich their research and other teaching through developing unique seminars, engaging in a collaborative review process with the GCWS Board of Directors, and team-teaching a diverse group of graduate students.
If you are interested in developing a course, read our Call for Course Proposals.
Team teaching is a unique and generative process, particularly in the context provided by the GCWS. Faculty proposing courses work in collaboration with our Board of Directors to hone their syllabi and work out best practices for teaching graduate level interdisciplinary seminars. The cross-institutional make up of our student body provides an additional level of engagement and shared learning – Masters and PhD students in English, Sociology, Public Policy, the Sciences, and many more fields take these courses. Each brings their disciplinary knowledge to bear on the topic, illuminating it from myriad vantage points. more »
Each of our faculty-focused events are rooted in knowledge sharing and alliance building. Devoted to growing the field of Women's and Gender Studies, we bring local faculty together in curriculum development workshops, panel presentations, and pedagogy discussions, all geared toward enhancing individual research and teaching and facilitating future cross-institutional, interdisciplinary teaching teams. more »
We believe that individual faculty support includes the cultivation of a fertile and supportive field. Therefore, we include in our event line-up several networking and community-building events for local area faculty working in the field or applying feminist methods to their work outside of Women's and Gender Studies. more »
