6 Tied w/ 1 |
MIT took the early lead in the opening minutes
as the Engineers were able to push the ball and convert easy
transition baskets. Freshmen Adam Gibbons
and Mike Huhs scored during that stretch
off nice passes from Danny Kanamori
as the Engineers quickly built a 6-2 lead. However, Springfield
climbed back into the game as MIT began to struggle offensively.
Plagued by several turnovers and cold shooting, the Engineers
trailed by double digits going into halftime.
MIT made several runs in the second half,
but could not shrink the deficit below five points the rest
of the game. Junior Neal Brenner
hit three 3-pointers while sophomore Kyle
Doherty scored inside as the Engineers seemed to wake
up offensively in the second half. But the Engineers could
not get stops down the stretch as Springfield maintained its
lead and made enough foul shots down the stretch for a 10
point victory.
