MIT came out sluggish in the first few minutes
as Coast Guard was able to use dribble penetration to find
wide open shooters for 3-pointers. The Engineers got back
in the game however, taking a 14-12 lead as sophomore Kyle
Doherty converted on the inside. However, the Engineers
struggled offensively the rest of the half with turnovers
and cold shooting as Coast Guard continued to hurt the Engineers
off the dribble, leading to easy baskets and fouls. Coast
Guard led at halftime by 10.
The second half fared no better for the Engineers
as they continued to struggle from the field. MIT could get
no closer than 5 points the rest of the way as Coast Guard
dominated the offensive glass in the second half. Junior Neal
Brenner hit two three-pointers and was the only other
MIT player to reach double figures. Coast Guard was never
seriously challenged the rest of the way as the Engineers
suffered their second consecutive loss.
