The Engineering began the game by hitting
their first eight fields goals including four three pointers.
MIT was off to a fast start and soon held a 20-6 lead midway
through the first half. Unfortunately, MIT's early good fortune
would not continue. Springfield College fought back to close
the lead to just two at half 32-30. The second half was back
and forth until Springfield, lead by freshman forward Derek
Yvon (26 points), took control in the last minutes. MIT trailed
51-52 with about two and a half minutes left in the game,
but Springfield went on an 8-2 run and then made 10 of their
final 12 free throws to seal the game. Sophmore guard Danny
Kanamori had a great shooting night as he went 6-of-8
from the field including 5-of-7 three-point field goals but
it was not enough as the Engineers fell 61-68.
