C. Cortical Mechanisms of Visually Guided Saccadic Eye Movements


The six cortical areas studiedTo learn more about the process of target selection with saccadic eye movements, we carried out a series of experiments recently in which we the extent to which sub-threshold electrical microstimulation of various cortical areas could influence target choice was determined. The areas stimulated are depicted in Figure 14. They are V1, V2, V4, the lateral intraparietal area (LIP), the frontal and medial eye fields (FEF & MEF).
