The Neural Control of Visually Guided Eye Movements
C. Cortical Mechanisms of Visually Guided Saccadic Eye Movements

target selection with stimulation in lower layers of area V1Figure 17 provides data from V1. Here we stimulate in the lower layers. The solid white curve shows target choice without stimulation. With 7.5 and 10uA of stimulation the curve shifts significantly to the left. This is what we call facilitation since the probability of choosing the target in the receptive field is increased. The 0% after the current levels for each curve indicates that stimulation in the absence of any targets never elicited a saccade, meaning that the stimulation level was well below absolute threshold.
