Jared S. Silvia

Jared is a graduate student in the Cummins group with interests in inorganic chemistry and renewable energy. Having discovered a vanadium nitride N-transfer to CO, Jared's main thesis project centers on CO2 reduction to CO in a cyclic fashion as mediated by a niobium nitride platform.

Highlights of Jared's research to date include the synthesis and structural characterization of vanadium and niobium carbamate derivatives from CO2, and the discovery of deoxygenation reactions for these carbamates. In addition, Jared is seeking to derive oxidizing equivalents from CO2 using light energy.

Jared carried out his undergraduate research studies at the University of Washington.
