Matt Rankin

Matt was an NSERC postdoc in the Cummins group, having arrived in 2009 after completing his Ph.D. studies under the direction of Prof. Mark Stradiotto at Dalhousie University in Halifax. Matt is from the province of Newfoundland.

While in the Cummins lab, Matt researched the chemistry of the tantalaziridine hydride functional group with an eye to the activation of small molecules including CO2. A highlight of this research was the discovery of CO2 reduction to a bridging methylene diolate ligand.

After marrying in October of 2010, Matt moved back to Canada for a second postdoc with Prof. R. Tom Baker at the University of Ottawa.
