As Ephrain and his workers make the popcorn, night workers are out in the
hall selling tickets. Perlner, who as Night Director deals with this aspect
of LSC, says that ticket sales are "very variable," from a few hundred to a
few thousand dollars in a weekend. (Renting a movie for the weekend costs
anywhere from $250, for an older film, to more than $1000 for current hits
like The Lord of the Rings.) Perlner has worked for LSC for,
as she puts it,
"seven and a half terms," but her history with the organization is much
longer. "My parents used to take me when I was little." Perlner's parents
were recent MIT graduates when she was young and continue to come to LSC
movies. "The whole experience of LSC has been part of me since I was young,"
she says.
