Memorial Drive forms a barrier between the river and the city of Cambridge. The posted speed limit is 35 mph, but most cars drive closer to 55. There are few crosswalks, and drivers show little inclination to stop for pedestrians. A wide median down the middle of Memorial Drive near MIT has become a useless island in a highway. |
