In which our heroes ...
Orhan 2 Day 15 TE 6060
We get to the capital. Where is the Yellow Rose? It's in a strange city
of metal and stone. Luckily, Imre made us some more money while we came
over on the boat, so we head in to have a drink.
We get a table and sit about. We order some wine and stew. Joe works
the late shift, so we have to wait. A bard, Bill Martin, comes in to sing
a bit. He seems to be OK. Joe finally comes in and starts working behind
the bar. We talk to Joe briefly and mention that when he gets a chance,
he should come talk to us as his friend Martin sent us. Finally, Joe comes
over and we make small talk before getting to it. We give him the package
and tell him we need to speak to someon ehigh high up as we need information
that isn't normally available. He tells us it will take a couple of days
and gets us a couple of rooms.
We keep watch that night in our rooms, and Haeraan is woken by sounds
out back in the night. he pokes his head out and interrupts a meeting
that suddenly scatters. Nothing else happens that night.
Orhan 2 Day 16 TE 6060
We hear in the morning that our rooms are being moved and we get new
keys. We decide to spend the morning wandering around town. There's a
big palace and walled section on that side of the city. Around noon is
a big hubbub on that side of the city. There's a progression moving down
on of the main streets. We join the hubbub to watch.
Guardsmen line the street and we crane our necks with everyone else.
During the parade however, someone from a high window shoots an arrow
at the lord of essense. (Haeraan recognizes it as the older colder son.)
The arrow of course bounces. The Lord of essense looks at it coldly and
after a moment of stunned silence says, "Kill them all." All
guards on the streets draw lightning clubs as everyone else runs for their
lives! Run run run!
In the running Haeraan can't bear to let anyone get killed so tries to
stun one of the guards to let someone get away. He and Imre cast but fail.
The guards close and attack.
Unfortunately, Imre takes some damage when he tries to back up Haeraan
and therefore Kyrik and Oathar are drawn into the fight as well as five
more guardsmen. We take them down, but had to use spells and such to do
it. That might cause problems later. Meanwhile, Alynna is stealthing off
after the ill-conceived archer. Sadly, the archer knows the city better
and escapes.
Apparently, they're circulating descriptions of enemy spies, so we spend
a lot of time looking like other people.
Later that night, we're to be met by Joe up in our rooms. Joe shows up
and leads us into the back of a small house well away from the Inn. There
are two other guys there. He pulls out blindfolds and has us put them
on. We are taken on a crazy roundabout route to some other secret location.
We're in a room with no blindfolds. There's someone in the deep shadows
in the back, and someone closer up who starts the interrogation.
We tell them we're from the other side and what we want to know and imply
that they know Xaris. They conference and decide to believe us, but the
information we seek is not directly available. It would be difficult,
but possibel to obtain this information at a secret facility where sensitive
military and other information is kept. They've never been able to get
inside, but couldn't penetrate further in. We should be able to help.
They can get us in, but then we need to go the rest of the way. They want
us to get the crystal with our data on it as well as pick up the NOC list.
We agree and are led back to the tavern blindfolded.
Orhan 2 Day 17 TE 6060
The next day a little kid show up with a package. Blueprints for the
Industrial Manufacturing Facility. Five IMF janitorial uniforms. Papers
describing things and a bunch of odd transparent "Identification
cards" with names. Pin them to the front of the uniform... Description
list of instructions, and an odd box with a couple blinky lights on the
outside. "DO NOT OPEN". "You have been provided identities
as janitorial works for the IMF. The uniforms and ID cards should allow
you entrance into the facility. Once inside, you should proceed to the
janitorial closet. Once in the closet, one team member must open the vent
and proceed to junction box B. Attach the red wire to lead B and the green
wire to lead C, once the blue light flashes, etc.... WARNING laser sentry
systems in ducts.
"After that, proceed back and the group should pass through to level
2 of security. Go to room 218, which is not in use. At this point several
things need to be done. <Picture of guy> Subject X is the chief
researcher. You must make sure subject X is outside the central data storage
facility. Someone must approach subject X in the cafeteria and spike his
food with the contents of this vial. Group must enter ducts from room
218 and proceed down to level 3.
"Once you arrive at junction 5, remove the grating and you will
be at the top of the central data facility with laser sentry system. If
possible, introduce mist into room to reveal laser sentry system. Then
acquirer must proceed down to data facility. Do not touch floor. Data
crystals are numbers and available in the data storage lockers, WARNING,
Lockers are locked. WARNING, some ducts hallways and central data facility
have visual monitoring capabilities. WARNING, these include radar and
infrared. "
If an alarm goes off, disabling gas and lockdown procedures fall into
place. Lethal force is encouraged. (Energy weapons for guards.) Imre thinks
there's lot's of magical barriers around.
We head into the main entrance. They check ID's we go to the janitorial
closet. We send Alynna down the vent. It goes pretty harshly, but she
makes it. Rah! The little box gets connected after a couple oftries and
she heads back. She makes it out! Rah!
We go to level two and Oathar gets all panicky at the metal detector
and tells the guard that his translation amulet is an hierloom. Oops,
that was a problem. Alynna is of course Oathar's brother. Imre is making
spell trickery rolls to get out of it with unseen. Haeraan and Kyrik have
to use words of reason to mind control the poor guards though.
Whew! We make it to room 218. We poison the researcher, and crawl through
the vents, and have a vast adventure with illusions and lasers and fog
and heat and lockpicking and contortions and traps and other stuff. Oathar
find 12 crystals two of which we want. He takes all 12. We back track
all the way back to the metal detector guys, but as we go through 12 crystals
is a bit too much and 'contraband is detected'. Combat next time.
