In which our heroes ...
Orhan 3 Day 59 TE 6063
The temple collapses into the ground while we flee.
Orhan 3 Day 60 TE 6063
We head to the temple of Phaon. The high priest invites us in for drinks.
He's having a good day.
He invites us in to the party. Yup, the whole evil temple went down and
he's got complete deniability.
We strike! Time for Haeraan to make some diplomacy rolls. He's willing
to talk about strategic alliances but shies away slightly when Haeraan
mentions that in the future we may wish to discuss more. He thinks that
the only way to really do that is to bribe the heck out of him.
Orhan 3 Day 64 TE 6063
We have to bribe two of the councillors. The third is almost with us,
but doesn't really think it's a good idea. Luckily, he's the one we have
the incriminating evidence on, so when we turn it over, he jumps on our
band wagon. 16k gold later, the town is ours. Or rather, Haeraan's brothers.
We are introduced to Colonel Sink, whose in charge of the Relian defense
regiment. He seems like a fine guy.
We argue about what to do about Count Bokpentok and his annoying son.
Imre doesn't want to assassinate people. Oathar doesn't either, but only
because it's a stupid plan. Kyrik doesn't want to try artistic deception.
We retreat to SelKai to discuss our various options. We decide to go
to Kyse Pharnese's party. It's quite nice. Very yummy. We are a little
off our game at first, not having been at a real society party for ages.
Even the prince stops by for a social call.
Several people cluster around a remarkable piece of technology recently
recovered from Votania. It looks like a small fridge, but it ages anything
put inside. It's quite remarkable for developing wine and cheese. Oathar
is pretty sure it's tech. Alynna thinks it's a bit magical. We think it
looks much like a stasis box. He bought it from the Brotherhood of the
Word. Man, we hate those guys. His wife was quite interested in the strange
"garbage disposal". It apparently casts "Garbage to dust"
on it.
Kyrik discovers some faint Althan lettering on the inside. It says, "Warning,
no user servicable parts, Bring to an authorized technician for service."
This text was authored by Industrial Robotics Manufacturing Robot 38.
It was wirtten in Orbital Manufacturing Complex 3, on –500 FE.
Word at the party is that Nuyom Kom is recovering. They've gotten a silk
harvest in...We also hear that there are lot's of sea serpent sightings
near Izar. A number of adventuring parties have gone to Zinvar and returned.
Sigh. Oathar is sure the Kaeden are infiltrating half the world. There's
been a record harvest in the Dales. King Kier is doing pretty well, restoring
the watchtowers of U-Lyshak. The Raven Queen has won a major battle, with
her lugraki hordes overrunning a small human city. The navigators have
instituted a policy of random discounts. Mostly it's on trips where the
navigator has to stop and destroy someone or something hindering the journey.
Orhan 3 Day 65 TE 6063
Oathar tries to commission the five rings, and their subsidiary rings.
Haeraan talks to the Eyes of Rianne and gets a military briefing. The
Pochonti are having a rough time of it. There are just so many Lankani.
Oathar buys a wedding present for Kyrik. Two spheres of emotional communication.
Imre bops up to Norek to chat with Anton. Anton says that Gireg is off
on assignment somewhere. Anton is up to his neck in politics. The Cloud
Lord of Tanara have returned and are throwing their weight around, attack
the settlements that have sprung up in old Tanara. Don't get him started
on Mornan Xaon.
Alynna goes shopping for Tears of Eissa. She gives them to her sister-in-law
and daughter.
Oathar takes Kyrik to see the mysterious South Isle obelisk (118 on selkai
sheet). Kyrik thinks the language is something unpronouncable by human
tounges. It was written about 50,000 years ago. It's made of the metal
we've seen before on the moon base and the wreck of the Hippocrates.
Valris sends him a vision saying this place was a swamp. A metal
like thing descends from the sky and bizzare insectoid like creatures
look around. Eventually, the create an obelisk and stick it there. (Not
Kaeden or Zerg).
Orhan 3 Day 66 TE 6063
We get a message saying that the Loremasters would like a report on the
recent Orian situation. Oathar drafts something up (which contains some
facts!) and gives it to Imre. Imre takes it to Anton in Norek. Well, actually
they have a conversation about reports in general, and Imre decides not
to show him ours. First they have a talk about sanctions, mostly consisting
of undesired assignments. In fact, Gireg may be on one of those undesirable
assignments even now.
Oathar goes around and gets commissions from Trask and James making it
clear that we brokered the peace between Orian and Baron James, and James
went to the aid of Orian.
There's a whole lot of tweaking with the text. In fact, dreams are cast
to make sure that nothing overly objectionable will get to the Loremasters
regarding the siege of Orian. Valris sends a dream about a little bird
sitting in a tree. It's some sort of metaphor. It's not really clear what
Valris is referring to.
Orhan 3 Day 67 TE 6063
Haeraan relates his dream which is about what he did in the battle. At
least, that's what it was supposed to about. He actually got an image
of a colluseum and a bullfight. It's probably related to his challenging
of the Nameless One.
Finally, Imre ships the report.
