In which our heroes ...
Orhan 2 Day 12 TE 6064
Oathar shouts out at the tornado and says, "No!" He and Shaal have a disagreement in which Shaal gets really pissed at Oathar, and brings his wrath down upon him. Shaal casts on Oathar, and nothing appears to happen. The preists of Shaal all shudder though. Oh dear...
Oathar calls Imre to do some curse tales and the like on him. Oh yeah, he's mightily cursed. He's now allergic to saltwater. At first he doesn't believe that, but Alynna brings him a bucket of salt water. Oathar's hand starts swelling up and turns red and gets very itchy. Oh dear.
Given that, Oathar isn't included to build any temples to Shaal right now, so he considers just taking 25 storm giants rather than 50.
Neela sends Pinchy to talk to Oathar. She can't lift a curse of Her Father. To do that, you'd need the intervention of Kour, Valris, maybe Rianne, or Cay. Oh, and obviously Eissa could do it, but She's likely kill you in the process.
Orhan 2 Day 13 TE 6064
Alynna prays to Cay asking if there's anything she could do, say tomb raiding and lock picking, etc. Oh and by the way, how screwed is Oathar?
Cay says, she should definitely explore her situation more. As to her friend, Cay will take it underadvisement, but there are some politics that will get complicated. Perhaps he could be convince with some suitable demonstration of good works, or the defeat of some enemy of Cay.
We think about various places to go, and decide it's time to go check out the Starcrown Empire. We ask for a navigator, and check out the jump fee.
Kyrik goes in to play more blanche while we wait for the navigator to show up in the morning.
Haeraan dreams of the starcrown empire. He gets a dream, Walt Disney presents the Starcrown empire and the seven states! Yup, there are plots there.
Orhan 2 Day 14 TE 6064
The navigator takes us to the place. It's a really old guy. He tells us the language is calld Gefting. The dwarves and islanders have their own languages of course. We find the laws posted near the navigator obilisk. There is no practising of magic in the city without explicit permission of the magistrates.
Guards show up since we cast translation spells to read the laws. They bring an Erlin speaking translator, and he suggests slipping the guard five silver pieces. We do this thing and the guards leave.
The translator tells us that spellcasting is not good in civilized areas. Magicians are not respeted you see except in the Fey areas. We tell him we are traders here to look for trade, but the translator was hoping we were adventurers. We admit that we have dabbled in adventuring now and then, so he tells us his plot. He's returning from a visit to on eof the elders inthe mountains. There are recently disturbing rumors that the Black Star Pearl has been rediscovered. It was fashioned by an ordainer named zorgash back during the wars of dominion. It's a necromantic artifact. We shall capture it and sacrifice it in Rianne's name.
There's a map to its location but it's being held in a heavily guarded vault. We will have to obtain the map from its guardians, and then follow the map to the loot. There's a cult which aims to find the pearl and use it to take over the fey. You get absolute political and magical power by defeating the previous ruler in sorcerous combat. The victor emerges at dawn. Wow, we'll get back to that.
The map is in the cult's headquarters. The call themselves the Ebon Mages. Our guides name is master G'Tan. He takes us to his Inn, the Star of the Sea. It's refers to an inland sea so Oathar is appeased.
Alynna and Oathar go undercover as criminals on the lamb looking for local bad guys to hide out with. We claim to be from the H'Renge forest. We shouldn't use any magic even among the criminals though. People just don't like it here.
They head out into the town and make some contacting rolls. They tell us to come back toorrow night if we are looking for work.
