In which our heroes ...
Orhan 5 Day 15 TE 6058
The next day, we arrive at the ship. It has a black flag with a white
raven on it. Hrmmm... That's bad. The sailors are wearing grey pants with
white shirts... Oh dear.
Imre considers it with his Reality Awareness (TM) and decides that we're
not actually in our dimension. Kyrik suffers from massive denial. We plot
and plan for a bit and then after making ourselves look non-descript,
we head up to the long boat. We're picked up and taken back to the ship.
The first officer asks if we have it. Oathar, still wearing the ring
of purity, Oathar says "Yup, we have it, set sail!"
Oathar heads to his cabin and reads his log. "Soon, the SKULL will
be mine and I will have a servant of power. The prince will be dead before
I return, and with me gone they won't be able to blame me. The princess
Arisia will have no choice but to marry me and Sel-kai will be mine!"
Oathar removes the ring of purity. "Ix-nay on the Uth-tray."
Kyrik's cabin is filled with cursed books and stuff.
We set sail for Sel-Kai.
Orhan 5 Day 35 TE 6058
Two weeks in, the lookout detects a ship. We investigate the ship. Drat,
it's a Danarchan merchant vessel. "They're running captain."
Oathar interrupts, "We don't have time for games! Sail on!"
The men won't won't be happy, captain, but we'll do it your way this time.
Orhan 5 Day 45 TE 6058
We return to Sel-Kai. In the harbor, there are many ships with pirate
flags. We are greeted at the dock, by a group asking if we were successful.
Instructions were carried out as you commanded. He gives Oathar a copy
of the speech they prepared for him. Imre is given a copy of his second
printing of the book. Haeraan is briefed on the army. (The undead in Vallandragrad
are coming along nicely.)
The populace is ready to hail Oathar as their new leader. Mistress Alynna
made sure the officials all fell into line. Sigh.
We're taken back to the Villa. Time to rest and refresh and prepare for
the ritual. Haeraan's morningstar goes crazy once we get to the villa.
Sigh. Oathar notices the big bone dragon in the front foyer. Haeraan makes
a big will roll to take the morningstar upstairs.
One of the labs is a ritual chamber with the pentagrams and stuff. Sigh.
There's a hollow slug sculpture of a guy in agony in the courtyard.
Going through out correspondence, we find that Imre's mother is a powerful
healer, though she's in exile in the swamps of Jaiman, because Imre kept
sending demons after her. Oathar and Cornelia's relationship seems unchanged.
Eventually, a mob comes by to protest the evil murder of the prince.
They are lead by an Linear bard. One of the servants is very apologetic
to Alynna and says they haven't killed her brother yet. Hmmm... Very suspicious.
We're discussing the ritual when the majordomo asks if we'd like to inspect
the prisoners. In the first cell is Arisia. She's a sassy and defiant
pirate princess with lot's of midriff. Sigh. In the other cells are two
little 8 year old girls. "The sacrifices have been kept in tact my
lord." Sigh.
So, Oathar negotiates with Arisia and agrees to share power with her
after they are married. Then everyone dresses and heads to the city center
for Oathar's "coronation". Oathar scans the ministers and decides
that yup, everyone is evil, except Coran Maas who has just as many non-detect
spells as he has.
Oathar then steps up to the dias and makes a speech proclaiming himself
to be Prince of Sel-kai!
After the ceremony, Arisia tells Oathar that Maas may be a problem for
them, so Oathar has Imre and Kyrik head off to talk to him and see if
he could be a big problem for our side or a big problem for evil our side.
Imre and Maas dance around the issue for a long time but eventually decide
that each other are good. Maas hates pirates! Who knew! We find out he's
a Loremaster. He's going to call the Loremasters to see if there's a way
to switch us back, but it will take a few days.
Imre heads back down to the villa to collect the sacrifices. They're
quite distrustful, but he tries to win them over. Imre takes them to a
restaurant and feeds them. The other patrons are sad for the fate of the
poor girls. He brings them up to the palace instead of the dungeon.
Oathar consolidates his hold on the city while people wait it out.
Imre goes to find Nesmoi. Her apartment is deserted. One of the neighbors
spots him and tell him that Nesmoi moved into her new house on the mainland
a few weeks ago. He finds her and her evil garden outside of town. She
seduces him with her evil wiles.
Orhan 5 Day 46 TE 6058
We stall for time.
Orhan 5 Day 47 TE 6058
We meet with Coran Maas. He thinks the Loremasters agree that we need
to go back. We came through a dimensional warp to a parallel universe.
Unfortunately, they don't know of a simple way to send us back. It would
require more power than is easily available. He thinks things we do and
the other we do will tend to track although there won' tbe exact parallels
between our actions.
The palace chamberlain comes for Oathar to have him review his new harem.
He picks one and has her sent to him for the evening. Sigh.
Kyrik and Oathar pray to their gods and get some warm fuzzies, but nothing
definitive. Imre gets the idea though that Eissa marked us a couple of
new years eve's ago.
Orhan 5 Day 48-51 TE 6058
We all pray to Eissa a few days in a row. She doesn't answer. Sigh.
