The urban forest exists in a precarious condition of dependence on the city, a city that both harms and nourishes it simultaneously. The urban forest does not occur naturally. It does not exist as its own ecosystem. To a great extent, it is born and dies as a consequence of the city, and therefore, it is a consequence of man's intervention.
