A team of chemical engineers and chemists has used computational modeling to design “ultrastable” materials. These highly stable metal-organic frameworks, or MOFs, could be useful for applications such as capturing greenhouse gases.
MIT has joined the STARS College Network, a coalition of 16 colleges across the U.S. that are collaborating on efforts to engage, support, and build pathways to college for students from small-town and rural America.

Roofscapes, founded by three MIT students, is working to build green spaces on pitched roofs in Paris to decrease temperatures, improve quality of life, and boost climate resilience. “We see this as a way to unlock the possibilities of these buildings,” says Eytan Levi MA ’21, SM ’21.

A new CSAIL system allows quadruped robots to dribble a soccer ball in sand, gravel, mud, or snow, using reinforcement learning to adapt to varying dynamics. Such robots could outperform wheeled robots on uneven terrain, such as in disaster recovery.
