A study has found that mask use rises with communities’ levels of collectivism. “It’s important to understand how culture fundamentally shapes how people respond not only to this pandemic, but to future crises as well,” Jackson Lu tells Fast Company.

RESEARCH NEWS

Robots have become quite good at identifying objects that are out in the open. But discerning buried items is tougher. A CSAIL team has now designed a sharp-tipped robot finger that might one day help disarm landmines or inspect cables.
