Engineers have developed a conductive, Jello-O-like material that may one day replace metals in the electrodes of implanted medical devices. “This material operates like metal electrodes but is made from gels that are similar to our bodies,” says Hyunwoo Yuk.
A former competitive swimmer, graduate student Jerry Lu works to optimize the performance of elite athletes and their sports organizations. By developing his analytical skills at MIT Sloan, he hopes to help build up smaller sports that aren’t as well-funded as the major league operations.

One of the Institute’s most popular club sports, MIT Sport Taekwondo offers a tight-knit community and the thrill of physical competition. “It’s my life — really,” says co-captain Moctar Fall. “The club has been my main foundation throughout my time as a student at MIT.”
