Progressive Form #2


1. We learned that "V-te+iru" describes one's (present) progressive action.
The form, "V-te+iru", itself is informal in terms of speech style.
But Japanese people often use the contracted form of "V-te+ru".
The mechanism is quite simple. All you have to do is drop /i/ sound.

You say: "Nani, shiteru?"
If you want to ask: "What is Chris doing?
You say: "Chris, nani shiteru?".
