STAGES OF OCCUPATION / STAGING EVENTS
![]()
This design for miniature golf is based on the notion of public space as theater, where one is both player and spectator. The site is designed as a series of spaces for programmed and improvisational events, including the everyday. Miniature golf is part of the "play", instigating moments of contact and engaging the performance of living. These ideas of performance and improvisation are central to the design.
Equally important to the design is creating a place for activities in addition to golf. What happens to the site once the novelty has worn off and people grow tired of golf? How can the space be enlivened and activated by events other than minigolf? Such a place must be flexible and be able to change over time. |
It must also be particular to its location.
