Why Should I Choose Course 10.27?
This Laboratory Gives You A Basic Chemical Engineering Tool Box
10.27 introduces you to practical chemical engineering operations through
hands-on experience with representative pilot-scale equipment and processes.
This course is intended to provide instruction in the art of experimentation
and data analysis and to introduce theory of selected unit operations.
10.27 is intended to:
- familiarize you with the operation of process and laboratory equipment;
- introduce you to the theory of selected unit operations;
- help you develop an appreciation for balancing theory with empiricism
through the use of correlations, approximations, and engineering
judgment; and
- provide you with experience in presenting the results of your work in
both oral and written reports.
Course 10.27 Meets part of your Laboratory Requirements towards a degree in
Chemical Engineering from M.I.T.
All undergraduates in Chemical Engineering are required to take two
laboratory courses (in addition to course 5.310). At least one of the must be a
laboratory course offered by the Department: either 10.27, Chemical
Engineering Unit Operations Laboratory; or 10.26, Chemical Engineering
Processes Laboratory.
