R. Perry, ed. Key Environments: Galápagos. Oxford: Pergamon Press, 1984.
Kricher, John. Galápagos. Washington: Smithsonian Institute Press, 2002.
This book proved very useful to my research efforts. While providing a lot of background history on the Islands, it also had a section specifically designated to the threats and how they had previously and currently been addressed.
Jackson, Michael H. Galápagos: A Natural History. Canada: University of Calgary Press, 1993.

Charles Darwin Foundation for the Galápagos Islands. “CDRS suffers vandalism and threats of violence at the hands of local fisherman.” 17 November 2000.
This article succeeds in making aware to the reader the intensity of the situations plaguing the Galápagos Islands. In response to unsatisfactory responses from the Ecuadorian government regarding guardianship of the resources, they destroyed civilian property and dealt out threats of death. The author of the article portrays them as evildoers as they have caused a great deal of damage, not to mention the discrediting of their claims of trustworthiness. ð

Collins, Vicky. “Galapagos: the new battle for survival.” The Herald. 15 September 2004. Web Issue 2104.
This article addresses yet another battle taking place on the Islands. The fishermen, while earning a living as they know it, are contributing to the population decrease of sea cucumbers. Conservations efforts have limited their catch and have posed on them a two-year ban.
Go2Galapagos. "Special law of Galapagos is still not completely applicable." 4 June 2004. ð
Kaiser, Jocelyn. “Galápagos Takes Aim At Alien Invaders.” Science. 9 November 2001. Vol. 294. Issue 5545.
This article provides information about the threats facing the Galápagos as far as invasive species are concerned. The writer’s sense of urgency makes us aware of just how huge a problem it is. Referring to the species as “invaders” and “enemies” expresses her concern about their presence in the islands and how it is causing widespread disaster, which must cease immediately. ð
Magee, John, Conley K. McMullen, etc. “Green Invaders of the Galápagos Islands.” Science. 9 November 2001. Issue 5545.
In response to Kaiser’s article, this one stresses the importance of the damaging effect of invasive species of vegetation on the native vegetation. The author seems to feel that the invasive vegetation needs as much attention as the invasive animals considering the fact that the species of invasive vegetation outnumbers that of the native vegetation. The author stresses prevention as a means of approaching the problem in the long run. ð
Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. "Urgent Update from the Galapagos." 28 May 2004.
This article concerns a recent threat made to Lonesome George by irate fisherman and how The Sea Shepherd crew had to protect him. ð
Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. "Galapagos National Park Seizes Shark Fins." 13 Sept 2003.
This article provides a brief account of a poacher being caught hauling shark fins. ð
