The hands are equipped with infrared proximity sensors, which detect when the explorers are nearby and trigger the gods' eyes and the sarcophagus's lid.

Looking into the gods' eyes, the explorers see an infinite universe filled with blue stars.
Mechanism
The eyes are made of a cylinder with a mirror at the back, a piece of plexiglass covered with a mirrored film at the front, and a ring of blue LEDs inside. The mirrored film is reflective and forms an infinity mirror with the mirror at the back. Because the mirrored film is semi-transparent, the explorers can see the infinity effect through the film. The LEDs in the eyes are programmed to automatically turn on when an explorer touches the statues' hand and turn off when the hand is not touched. When the hands of all three statues are touched, the LEDs in the eyes are programmed to stay on and will turn off after the explorers leave the room.
