The Computer Mouse

a human use analysis

Drawbacks

Survey Summary:

Based on a user survey, most of the problems that ordinary users experienced ranging from engineers to students to business people, had to do with ergonomics and performance. From an ergonomic standpoint, the concavity of the mouse form factor not complementing the palm of the hand was a notable drawback. For performance issues, mouse sensitivity and responsiveness resulting in a lack of or inaccurate movement of the pointer on the screen corresponding to mouse movement was an issue.

What folks think:

"Yeah, I like the scrolling feature. I don't like how sometimes it's hard to use because the mouse is on a **** surface."

- Paul H. (Graduate Student)

"Sometimes I lose the little Bluetooth USB and have to get a new one. But I guess I could switch to a cord. I prefer mouses to the trackpad things."

- Emmett H. (Civil Engineer)

"Mouses are simple and convenient to use. Great for gaming because of its mobility and responsiveness. But, wired mouses sometimes get caught on my messy desk. When a mouse does not work, there is very little support help fix it. The solution is to get a new one."

- Thomas V. (Corporate Executive)

"There is magic mouse for apple and there is pc mouse; magic mouse is very cool idea, nice to not mechanically press ****. I want something to feel my palm. I like Logitech because it hugs your palm. And of course the other things I care about are less strain on fingers. Also it can't be heavy because when I'm gaming I pick it up quickly. So if it's heavy I don't like."

- Poorya G. (Graduate Student)

"It's nice to hold something that's easy to aim, but I don't like cleaning that **** regularly. Also if it's a **** mouse then the clicks can sound real loud. Also mouse sensitivity can be ****."

- Timur E. (Entrepreneur)
