Perhaps your dentist has recommended an electric toothbrush to you during your last visit. An alternative to manual toothbrushes, the electric toothbrush offers increased plaque removal, ease and speed of brushing, and many times, time-keeping to make the brushing experience more entertaining while also improving oral hygiene. The electric toothbrush user is thoroughly guided throughout the process, minimizing work required especially on busy mornings and late nights.

Brief History

First invented in 1954, the electric toothbrush was connected to a standard wall outlet and was meant for people with limited motor abilities and those receiving orthodontic care. In 1961, General Electric produced a cordless, rechargeable model, making electric toothbrushes much more safe. The intended audience expanded beyond those with special needs to the average adult and child. (source 1)

Today, many have converted to the electric toothbrush, especially those who are aware of their oral hygiene. To coincide with this jump in demand, major market share holders have advanced the electric toothbrush with special features; however, there are still improvements that can be made to enhance the experience.
