Problems

Getting the proper scan was difficult. Sometimes the scanner would output individual pages instead of separating the pages into individual scans. In order to solve this the user would need to go into the settings and switch between different modes. Most users wouldn't know that these settings existed so they simply restarted their scan and hoped that the scanner would "fix" itself.

If the book was not placed in the right orientation the scanner would at times output an error message. The alignment laser lines would either confuse users or users would just completely ignore them.

When prompted to scan loose papers, users did not even glance at the secondary scanner and proceeded to use the regular overhead scanner. When shown that they could have used the attachment, they all said that they didn't even think of using anything but the overhead.

Another feature that wasn't discovered was the V-bed which helps scan book pages that have a tendency of not staying down in place. The unnoticed features points out at possible changes in the design of the KIC scanner.

The pages for books were difficult to keep down and the scans would mess up from time to time. One of the users used loose leaf pages to keep the book pages down but realized that the blank white pages also came out in the scan.

Users were initially mistaken and placed the items scanning face down like in conventional flatbed scanners.

When deleting a certain scan users needed to press the "delete" option twice. This feature was made to prevent accidental deletes, however most users pressed it only once and waited for something to happen with no success.

Modifying different scans requires users to scroll between different images. Most users would try and drag the small tiles and not see the scroll bar at the bottom of the screen.
