Starting the week of September 15th an hour per week of tutoring, by chemistry department majors, will be available on a limited basis to all students in 5.111 and 5.112. If you feel that you could use some extra work with chemistry fundamentals consider requesting a tutor. After the first exam only students who receive a D or F will be eligible to receive tutoring help.
Tutoring is not an alternative to lecture, recitation and TA office hours. Students who do not attend all of the above each week, will no longer be eligible for tutoring.
Starting Wednesday, September 10th, you should e-mail Mr. Kris Grabarek, the Assistant Director for Chemistry Education (grabarek@mit.edu) about your interest in working with a tutor. Due to limitations on the number of tutors, we will only be able to accommodate the first 45 students who e-mail Mr. Grabarek. Those students who are paired up with a tutor will receive their assignment by Monday afternoon, Sept. 15th, and will be contacted by their tutor soon after, to set up a mutually convenient time to meet.
