An Object Tracking Surveillance System

by Lyric Doshi, Robert Crowell

Abstract

The 1984: An Object Tracking Surveillance System will track the motion of any arbitrary target selected using a laser pointer. When the laser pointer is turned off, a video camera visually identifies the color of the object the laser was targeting and tracks the movement of the target. A simple particle filter, initialized based on the target's color and location, will be used for image processing. The camera will be mounted to a movable platform mounted to a servo, allowing the system to keep its target within the center of the video screen.
