SMA received delegates from many renowned universities and technological institutions in Europe, United States, Japan and Korea.

        AUG   11            
Professor Artur Ekert from Cambridge University met with Professor Andrew Nee for a number of informal discussions and to learn more about the vision and goals of SMA.

The Benesse Corporation Delegation represented by Mr Masoyoshi Morimoto, Mr Tom Skuda and Mr Akira Kuwana were introduced to SMA through a series of discussions.
           
  NOV 4    
Professor Beenakker from Delft University (Institue of Microelectronics and Submicrontechnology) paid a visit to find out more about SMA.

Professsor Frank Lewis, an eminent professor in the areas of Robotics and Control from the University of Texas at Arlington and a Visiting Research Professor of the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department, met with Professor Andrew Nee to find out more about SMA. He was accompanied by Associate Professor Sam Ge from ECE during the brief visit.
           
  Dec 7-16    
Dr Sangam Banerjee, Reader, Surface Physics Division, Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics, Calcutta, visited SMA in relation to the AMM&NS research projects. Besides collaborating with the research teams, Dr Banerjee also provided guidance to the SMA Ph.D. students.

Professor Makiko Miwa from the R&D Division, National Institute of Multimedia Education (NIME), Japan visited SMA to learn about its interactive distance education.
           
    28     Professor Sir Friend from the University of Cambridge met up with Professor Chua Soo Jin for updates on various matters.
           
  FEB 17    
Professor Takashi Sakamoto, Director General of
National Institute of Multimedia Education (NIME),
Japan, accompanied by Associate Professor Kazuhiko Hatano from the Research and Development Division and Mr Susumu Yamaji, Senior Researcher of Education Institute for Private Schools in Japan, visited SMA to learn more about distance education. Their visit was hosted by Professor Chua Soo Jin.
           
  MAR 8    
Professor Alan Brody, Associate Provost for the Arts and Professor of Theater, MIT met with Professor Andrew Nee to discuss the introduction of the Arts component to the SMA students.

Professor Masahiro Yokota, Professor Tsuyoshi Tsuboi, Associate Professor Satomi Shiratsuchi, Assistant Professor Hiroshi Ota and Assistant Professor Kazuhiro Kudo visited SMA for discussions on transnational education programmes. Professor Nee hosted the visit.

Professor Myungchul Kim, Dean of the School of Engineering Information and Communications and Assistant Professor Daeyoung Kim from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering Information and Communications, Korea University visited SMA. The visit was hosted by Professor Nee.

Professor Yoshiharu Kuwana and Professor Takao Yamamoto from Chiba University of Commerce, Japan met with Professor Andrew Nee to learn more about SMA.
