Can I Use Emacs?

Yes.

  • Open a command prompt (Start>Run>Command)
  • Type 'addmenu windows-pack emacs'

The top level Start Menu will now display a new folder, 'MIT', which contains a shortcut to emacs.

I get a security error upon running Microsoft Office products?

When a Microsoft Office product run, the following security warning appears:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\STARTUP\PDFMaker.dot
contains macros by Adobe Systems Incorporated....

~

This error occurs the first time you run an office product after Adobe Acrobat has been installed.

  • Check the box that says Always Trust Macros From This Source
  • Click on Enable Macros

You should now have the PDF Writer menu option available in Office.
