Sixth Annual Hartman Paper Competition Announced

SEPTEMBER 25, 2009: PARTNER has announced that it is soliciting submissions for its Sixth Annual Joseph A. Hartman Student Paper Competition. The competition is open to undergraduate and graduate students located anywhere in the world.

Papers must relate to aircraft noise and/or emissions reduction. Of particular interest are papers describing research in the following:

Prizes will range from $200 to $5,000.

Submission deadline is January 31, 2010. Papers are to be submitted via the PARTNER Hartman Student Paper Competition page on the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics’ Web site.

The competition seeks to capture the best ideas concerning technical solutions, economic analyses, methodologies, and processes that work towards reducing aviation noise and emissions exposure through source reduction technologies, alternative fuels, operating procedures, compatible land use management, and policy implementation.

A panel comprising experts associated with the PARTNER Center of Excellence from academia, industry, government, and non-government organizations will judge papers. Winners will be notified by April 1, 2010.

The PARTNER Student Paper Competition is named in memory of Professor Joseph A. Hartman of Boise University, a founding PARTNER member and a lead investigator, who passed away in 2004.
