The Biology department does not give transfer credit for Biology courses taken at other institutions.
Students can receive credit for 7.012 Introductory Biology that fulfills the General Institute Requirement (GIR) by taking the Biology Advanced Standing Exam offered twice each year on Registration Day of the fall and spring semesters.

Exceptions are as follows:
Students who are participating in the Cambridge-MIT Exchange (CME) program can obtain credit for upper-level biology courses.
Transfer students who have completed at least one year at another university and who enter MIT as an upperclassman should contact the transfer credit examiner for review of credits for biology courses.
