Welcome

The Biopolymers Laboratory is a core laboratory funded by the Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research. Our mission is to provide research instrumentation capability to the MIT community.

The concept of the Laboratory is to combine, in one location, expensive and highly-automated instruments with the technical expertise needed to operate and maintain them efficiently. The cost of supplies and reagents utilized in a synthesis or analysis is "charged back" to individual research laboratories. With state-of-the-art instruments and a highly-trained technical staff, the Biopolymers Laboratory allows researchers to utilize modern techniques without having to invest their time, funds, and laboratory space on an individual basis.

We try to be flexible. If you have a reference with a methods section that we can implement on any of our instruments we will try to help out, time permitting. For non-standard procedures please contact Heather Amoroso or a staff member.

Core lab services:

  • Peptide and Spot synthesis
  • Protein identification by ESI mass spectrometry
  • MALDI and LC/ESI mass spectrometry mass measurement and fractionation
  • HPLC analytical and preparative separations
