The Test of Essence

This test is about demonstrating your Octopus' inner nature.

How is nature measured? Completely subjectively!

This event is fairly wide open as to the evidence required. All events will ask for an octopus-like quality. You submit to the judges your evidence that your octopus possesses this quality. You may submit pictures, essays, testimonials, whatever. For each event the octopus with the most compelling evidence will win.

Note: This means "(most compelling) evidence". Not "most (compelling evidence)" or "most (compelling) evidence". If you don't understand the difference, that's OK, some of the judges don't understand it either.

Example events would be:

• At home in a aquatic environment.
• Mastery of the number 8.
• Ability to sneakily command humans.

Evidence for the first entry could include:

• A picture of your octopus underwater.
• A letter from the director of the New England Aquarium attesting to your octopus' aquatic prowess.
• An poem written by your octopus in which each line contains three words, two starting with H and one starting with O.
• Really, anything will count. Whether the judges find it compelling is another story...

Scoring

For each entry, the top eight octopodes will receive the standard scores.

Points will be updated regularly and the octopus with the most points at any given time will be the current winner of the Test of Essence, entitled to wear the Royal Mantle.
